Dear colleagues and friends,

I am Minoru Tanabe of the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Tokyo Medical and Dental University. It is a great honor for me to be a president of the 20th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery (JSGS) at JDDW 2022 in Fukuoka.

The Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery, was founded in 1968. With almost 20,000 members, our society becomes one of the largest global body of gastrointestinal surgeons. Since 2010, our society has been participating in the annual meeting of Japan Digestive Disease Week (JDDW), which is composed of five societies involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of digestive diseases. Each year, about 20,000 physicians, surgeons, and other medical professionals attend JDDW and discuss a wide range of issues across the disciplines. The JDDW brings together some of the greatest minds and ideas in the field of gastrointestinal disease creating the opportunity for life-long interactions and friendships.

We sincerely look forward to your participation in JDDW 2022 in Fukuoka.
