- The 30th General Meeting of the Japan Society
of Hepatology - President: Etsuro Hatano
Division of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and Transplantation, Department of Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University
It is my honor to serve as President of the 30th General Meeting of the Japan Society of Hepatology (JSH) at JDDW 2026. I am Prof. Etsuro Hatano from the Department of Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University. I am truly grateful to be entrusted with hosting the academic meeting of the esteemed and historic JSH.
Treatment for viral hepatitis has progressed and we are now in an era where we can expect to be able to control it, but the increase in Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease is a major issue. On the other hand, there have been remarkable advances in drug therapy for liver cancer. Furthermore, the outcome of liver transplants for end-stage liver disease are improving year by year, and the indication is expanding.
We are now in an age where even liver diseases can be "cured," and we look forward to a hot discussion on the theme of "Bringing together wisdom to cure liver diseases," removing the barriers between medical departments such as internal medicine and surgery. All for the sake of patients' smiles!
