Message from JDDW 2023 Meetings' & Congress' Presidents

Toru Hiyama
The 61st General Meeting of the Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Cancer Screening
President: Toru Hiyama
Health Service Center, Hiroshima University

I am Professor Toru HIYAMA from the Health Service Center, Hiroshima University, and the President of the 61st General Meeting of the Japanese Society of Gastrointestinal Cancer Screening. It is a great honor for me to be the president of this important event.

The theme of the meeting is "To a new era! Gastrointestinal cancer screening". Nowadays, cancer prevention, including gastrointestinal cancer screening, is becoming more important, and technological innovations are remarkable, especially AI, artificial intelligence, technology. In addition, globalization is progressing further. We would like to discuss the gastrointestinal cancer screening of a new era at the meeting.

For example, how to integrate AI technology in the cancer screening practice is an important issue. We would like to discuss the issue. We also need a global perspective. Japan has world-leading diagnostic technologies and know-hows such as endoscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. On the other hand, looking around the world, there are still many countries that are building screening systems and aiming for early cancer diagnoses. The discussions at the meeting will be useful not only for Japan, but also for such countries. We think that it is important to send messages to such countries.

To make the 61st meeting fruitful, we would like to invite international colleagues to join us and present posters. Your participation will contribute to the success of our event. We look forward to lively discussions with you in November 2023 in Kobe and online.
