The JDDW 2024 Travel Award Program was established to foster global interaction among young doctors and researchers. Abstract authors are encouraged to apply for our Travel Award, as outlined below:

1. NUMBER OF AWARDS

A total of 36 people will be receiving Travel Awards.

2. AWARD DETAILS

Transportation: Actual cost of transportation, up to one thousand US dollars (US$1,000).
Registration.

These expenses will be reimbursed after JDDW 2024 is over and your presence is confirmed.
Accommodation: JDDW will reserve a hotel room and cover the cost (single room for four nights).

3. APPLICATION ACCEPTANCE PERIOD

Noon, Thursday, February 1 through noon, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Japan time (same as the application period for JDDW 2024 abstracts).

4. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

Young overseas doctors/researchers, who live outside of Japan, without Japanese nationality, 40 years old or younger, as of October 31, 2024 (the first day of JDDW 2024).
Please submit your CV for application.
Once the selection has been approved, applicants will be required to submit the copy of passport and the confirmation letter of the head of department. This letter needs to be signed by the head of department and should state applicant’s current work.
You are requested to pay the Participation/Registration fee of JPY20,000 in advance. In the event that your abstract is selected for the Travel Award Program, the fee will be refunded.

5. SELECTION PROCESS

The program committee of each society will select the Travel Award winners by reviewing abstracts received for JDDW 2024.

6. HOW TO APPLY

Please apply by submitting your abstract. Online submission of abstracts for the theme sessions and digital poster sessions for the Travel Award Program can be made from the Submission Page (click the "Submit" button).

7. AWARD NOTIFICATION

Each applicant will be notified by e-mail around late July of 2024.

8. PENALTY FOR ABSTRACT CANCELLATION OR NON-PRESENTATION

After the decision on acceptance of abstracts, if you cancel your abstract or do not present your abstract at the conference, you will be prohibited from submitting abstracts to JDDW for a period of two (2) years.

The awards will be given for the first author or the presenters only.
When the first author or presenter is changed, the abstract will not be eligible for the awards.

Important note: In case you would require supporting documents for Visa application, please note that the Secretariat will only provide an Invitation Letter. A “Letter of Guarantee” will not be provided.

9. Hands-on Seminar

If you are chosen as a Travel Award winner, you can receive financial support for the actual cost of transportation (up to thousand US dollars). You can also join in the Hands-on Seminars by paying JPY 2,000 per lecture.
