Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Binh is currently the Deputy Medical Director of the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital, Director of the Center for Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery, and Head of the Department of Abdominal Surgery I. He is also an lecturer at Hanoi Medical University.
He obtained his Master's degree in Surgery from Hanoi Medical University in 1997 and underwent advanced clinical training in France through residency programs at the University of Toulouse and the University of Paris V. He completed his PhD in 2013 and was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2022.
Dr. Binh have over 30 years of experience in oncologic surgery, particularly in gastrointestinal malignancies. His clinical expertise centers on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical techniques for esophageal, gastric, colorectal cancers. He has played a leading role in introducing and standardizing 3D thoraco-laparoscopic esophagectomy and advanced lymphadenectomy in Vietnam.
He has authored more than 50 national scientific articles and 15 international publications, and served as chief editor of a specialized textbook on laparoscopic surgery. He has also contributed to one national-level research project on colorectal cancer surgery. In 2019, he was honored with the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit for his outstanding contributions to cancer treatment and surgical innovation in Vietnam. Dr. Binh regularly speaks at both national and international conferences, representing Vietnam's growing expertise in gastrointestinal cancer surgery.
