Biography

Dr. Chen graduated from the Medical college, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1993 and completed surgical resident training at Department of surgery, National Taiwan University Hospital in 2000.
For further training, he visited the minimally invasive surgical center, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 2001 and the division of HPB and liver transplantation, Kyoto University Hospital, Kyoto, Japan in 2007.
Currently, he is the chair of department of surgery, chief of the division of general surgery, Far-Eastern Memorial Hospital, New Taipei City, which is a tertiary refer center with 1150 beds in northern Taiwan.
Dr. Chen’s main interests are hepatobiliopanreatic surgery, liver and kidney transplantation, herniology by minimally invasive and open approach. He initiated the first robotic HPB surgery program in Taiwan in 2010 and started the first laparoscopic donor hepatectomy for adult living donor liver transplantation in Taiwan in 2012. In addition to being an active member of many international societies, Dr. Chen also served as the President of Taiwan Association of Endoscopic Surgery, Taiwanese Hernial Society and board members of various domestic societies.
