Background:
The latest pathologic diagnosis of "sessile serrated adenoma/polyp" was purposed by WHO in 2010. However, the detection rate and pathologically diagnostic rate varies amoung endoscopists and pathologists. Through education, the detection/diagnosis of SSA/P might reach concordance gradually.
Aims:
Whether the rates of detection and pathological diagnosis change after 2010?
Methods:
Reviewing pathological database from 2011/01~2015/12. Numbers of colorectal SSA/P detected and diagnosed by each endoscopists and pathologists were compared year by year.
Results:
A total of 295 SSA/Ps were diagnosed pathologically (295/9806, 5%), with dysplastic rate to 3.4% (10/295). Mean diagnostic age is 54.1, with a male and right sided predominence (M: 62.4%; Right: 63.8%). Yearly numbers of colorectal SSA/P increased year by year. In addition, detection and pathologically diagnostic numbers of endoscopists and pathologists both revealed a rising trend in past 5 years.
Conclusions:
Recognition of colorectal SSA/P could be improved both in endoscopists and pathologists. It might be due to continued training and education.
